Episode Summary
Hard Gay has received an SOS from a ramen shop that is having trouble getting customers, so he decides to go help out. He finds the place using his "hip" radar. First he checks to see how many people actually come to the restaurant, and decides that the one guy that shows up is definitely not enough, so he goes out into the town around the shop and hands out fliers and shit for the restaurant, calling it the Hard Gay Ramen shop, among other things. He also ends up playing around with kids in the park.
Translator's Notes
There are a few points in the very beginning where the translation stumbled, namely, when the Bakuten guy is reading the letter from Hard Gay about the piece.
When the subtitles say "With a troubled mom and pop in the living room, ...", the Japanese is actually in more of a rhyme scheme. The actual Japanese, (kana to come later), runs more like this, "ocha no ma, mama papa, komari ka wo". The first section is, to put it blandly, living room. Literally, it's called the tea room, though. The second is deduced to be "Mom and Dad", and the third was thought to mean that it was talking about all the trouble Hard Gay caused his parents by being on TV in the current fashion. Namely, as Hard Gay. Literally it just means problems, or troubles, and trails off after that.
The other point was the same kind of rhyme scheme. When the subtitles say "They can't deny my body, hooo!", the Japanese runs like this, "Kuru mono, kobamanu, kono karada". The first section is taken literally to be, "one who is coming/arriving", the second is, "won't refuse", and the third is, "this body". Thrown together into a sentence it came out as "They can't deny my body", however it is probably more accurate to translate it as, "The one arriving won't deny this body". Which doesn't make much sense in English, so it was flipped around to make it more like something that people would believe he'd say, while still retaining the meaning as best as possible.
Another thing to take note of that wasn't even translated is when Hard Gay first comes onto the screen and shouts out "UFOOOO". That is a reference to a Pink Lady song entiteld "UFO" that starts out the same way. There's a video on YouTube with Pink Lady and Morning Musume singing this song, it can be found here.
Addition by Pandemonium : If you scroll to 5:42 within the clip, the sign on the door says 'HARD GAY RAMEN' underlined by red text. This is a pun on RAMEN, because it uses the katakana for RA and then uses romaji for MEN, therefore "HARD GAY RA'MEN'".
Addition by Sha Wujing: When HG says 「何と今回このハードゲイにSOSの依頼が来ました!」he is continuing his reference to Pink Lady from the opening. 「SOS」 is also a song by Pink Lady during which they repeat SOS in english twice in succession several times.
